DISNEY’S ‘A CHRISTMAS CAROL’ LAUNCH GETS THIS YEAR’S FESTIVE SEASON OFF TO A GLITTERING
START
The enormous launch of Disney’s A Christmas Carol has got this year’s festive season
off to a glistening start. Popular streets were adorned with dazzling lights, sending
Christmas spirits soaring amongst Londoners. The world premiere of the much-awaited
film made its glittering debut at Leicester Square, as the star-studded cast arrived
in London city to illuminate the both the City of London and the vivacious streets
of the capital’s famed West End.
Opening the festivities in the heart of Dickens’ London, well-loved actor Bob Hoskins
– appearing in the role of generous Old Fezziwig in the film – lit up St. Paul’s
Cathedral by turning on the city’s famous Christmas lights. Fellow cast members
Colin Firth illuminated Regent Street and Jim Carrey (playing central character
Ebeneezer Scrooge) lit up Oxford Street, with several other stars from the film
also joining in the impressive celebrations. The festive merriment continued with
a fantastic light show at St. Paul’s Cathedral, followed by a concert featuring
live performances from pop star Little Boots and the cast of the London theatre
musical ‘Hairspray’. This stupendous start to the festive season is among the biggest
that London has ever seen, making it the perfect way to welcome Christmas into the
capital.
